A Changed Heart~

It is sad when people use phrases like, "God told me to do this or that." To my knowledge, God has not spoken directly to anyone since the Old Testament. Correct me if I'm wrong, but scripture will prove that to be correct. Many that have recently experienced a change in their heart, will use that phrase; along with "I found God." But for me, I never knew he was lost.
We don't find God, he finds us; and has always known where we were. My daughter, a non-believer, was approached yesterday by an old boyfriend who led the conversation with those phrases. She was disturbed by this connection. I mean, I'm all for anyone that can help her to believe, but it will never happen for her with phrases like that.
Faith takes knowledge. The knowledge needed to talk to others about their faith and what the "Bible" says about God. When we are witnessing to others we need to use the right words and it takes knowledge to do that. I worry that this young man has been taught to witness incorrectly. He expressed some concerns to her that I think need to be addressed; but it seems like he might not be open to hearing the truth. Whatever the case, he needs someone to talk to, so I told my daughter I would be the one to do that for her. She immediately said, "You're the best," and surprised by that, I asked her if she could repeat it so I could record it. We just laughed.
God works in such mysterious ways. Not five minutes ago, my youngest son, knocked on my door, visibly upset. Upon further discovery I learned he had been fired. Fired from the only job he has held for 10 years. He's an alcoholic who has progressively brought himself to this place. I had a short talk with him about his next step and reminded him that just last week he told me this was probably going to happen soon, and here it is. It's funny how we bring ourselves to the place we say we are going. "We are responsible for our own reality." I think that is the hardest thing for most to accept.
God knows where we are going and always has, that is why he sent his only son to save us from sin. He sent Jesus to live in the "real" world and then sacrificed him to give us the grace we now have. We now have a forgiving God, and we should thank him everyday for his sacrifice.
This is a hard time of year for many, my son especially; but the strange part is that my church family and I have prayed for him to get here also. God has answered our prayer and now he will answer my son's when he turns to him for his much needed recovery. At this moment, he is not feeling very grateful and I understand that, but I am. I am so grateful that he is where he is so that he can now get the help he so greatly needs.
I know it must sound strange to many to hear that we prayed for him to hit bottom, but he was so unwilling to get there on his own that we felt he needed help and the only help we could offer was for him to  get here. With God's help the rest will right itself. It may not be a lasting solution, many have to try sobriety dozens of times, but for this Christmas; I am so grateful to God for bringing my son right where he is right now. God answered my prayer...

WHAT WILL YOUR DASH BE?

The Dash
What will be your dash? Mine will be that I loved, as hard as I could, "everyone I met."
My friend, Beverly, right now, is experiencing a fork in the road. Her husband is ill, and even though many in their life that have met her husband Charlie, never understood how they remained married for 40 plus years; I understand why.
Beverly works as a CNA in a nursing home, she cares for people who have had to go to a nursing home for additional care, that hospitals cannot give them. Every year she is awarded a cash prize for being the number 1 CNA in the chain of nursing homes. She is loved, respected, and admired for what she does. And now, she may have to choose that for her husband. Funny thing is, I know that she would never choose to send Charlie to a nursing home, she would take care of him on her own. The doctors and nurses at the hospital, joke with her about how grateful they are when she comes to sit with him because it is the only time he is not cursing or yelling at someone. He is at peace only when she is there. What they don't realize is that she is also at peace, when she sits with him. She misses him at night when she goes to sleep alone, she misses him when she comes home to her empty house, greeted by her cat "Lightening." She misses him and his cursing and yelling because she knows that he is a wonderful man who would do the same thing for her. That is why they have been together for 40 plus years.
So, say a prayer for Charlie to get well, but if he cannot, pray for his love to give her the strength to go on without him.

Hummingbirds and The Law of Attraction.

I use the Hummingbird as my logo to depict my faith in "The Law of Attraction." Another example is the Monarch Butterfly. Both of these creatures live The Law of Attraction. They are prime examples of how the Law of Attraction works. If you choose to attract these beautiful creatures to your garden, it must be under very certain conditions. They are attracted to color and to the sweet liquid that we put out for them. If these CONDITIONS do not exist in your garden or near it, then you will not attract Hummingbirds or Monarch Butterflies. I wanted to particularly attract them to mine, so I planted a lot of purple and red flowers, a Trumpet Vine, and a Butterfly Bush for the Monarchs. My neighbor gets more than anyone I have every known, but she plans very carefully and is very consistent with her flowers and the perfect food. Making sure they are always provided for, they continually return. Both creatures are miracles of nature when you think about it. The miraculous thing about them is their size and strength. Monarch Butterflies migrate from great distances every year.

"Each adult butterfly lives only about four to five weeks. But one of the many wonders of the Monarchs is the annual creation of a unique "Methuselah generation." As autumn approaches in their sites of migratory origin, a very special generation of butterflies is born. Unlike their parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, and great-great-grandparents -- all of whom had ephemeral lives measured only in weeks -- these migratory butterflies survive seven or eight months. In human terms, given our average life span of 75 years, this would be like having children who lived to be 525 years old!" THERE IS THE MIRACLE.

The Law of Nature in philosophical terms states that "a system of right or justice held to be common to all humans and derived from nature rather than from the rules of society, or positive law.

Why Hummingbirds Migrate:
As with most of our migratory birds, hummingbirds apparently evolved to their present forms during the last ice age. They were (and largely still are) tropical birds, but as the great ice sheets retreated from North America, they gradually expanded their ranges to exploit rich temperate food resources and nesting space, filling unoccupied niches in the U.S and southern Canada while evading intense competition in the tropics. Some songbird species have adapted completely to our variable North American climates, in part by becoming vegetarians in winter, and don't migrate. But hummingbirds are carnivores (nectar is just the fuel to power their flycatching activity), and depend on insects that are not abundant in subfreezing weather, so most of them must retreat back "home" to Central America in the winter or risk starvation. AGAIN THE MIRACLE

The Law of Attraction requires the CONDITIONS be right to attract what it is you want in your life. Wanting is not enough, you MUST take action to get what you want and the more consistent the action, and the more consistent the direction...will be what attracts what you want into your life.

I spent some time today watching a video of Eckhart Tolle’s The Flowering of Human Consciousness, Everyone’s Life Purpose.” It has led to an interesting day. I have been watching him with Oprah doing the book club online. What he talks about in his books has been confusing to me, but today I believe I found clarity. I guess my AHA moment was realized today. I heard this:

“The dash between your date of birth and date of death is the accumulation of your entire life.”

All the dramas, including my two marriages and the other dramatic experiences in my life are only a dash on my gravestone. It was after hearing that that I realized the expectancy I feel, a great deal of the the time, is fear…fear that I will not become who I am supposed to be before my life ends. Afraid the flower will not bloom until death. It is close to death when a lot of us experience the release of the “ego”and the light begins to shine or the flower blooms. Well, like others I’m sure, I do not want to have that burden. The solution is to let go of the “ego” now. By looking for myself, I will just attract more stress, trying to find myself.

I do not want the accumulation of my life to be reduced to a dash, so the rest of my life will be lived by experiencing the beauty of every day, the beauty of every moment. We all get caught up in the collective mind set, that keeps us suffering. We believe that we are looking for peace in the world, and collectively we are saying we want peace, but the whole time we are looking for it, armies are still being formed and weapons are still being made. We are looking for peace, while peace is already within us, in the stillness. When we are in the stillness there is the peace. More of us need to want the same thing, so collectively, we will find stillness, so instead of looking for peace recognize and be grateful for already having it and enjoy the stillness. Peace is stillness now, not in the future. While recognizing these things today, I was in the present, in the stillness. We can only be there for such short periods of time, so I want as many moments of that as I can find.

I am not looking for myself any longer, I am here, and soon I will discover, or it will be shown to me, what the purpose of my life really is. I know it is to help others, the way has not been shown to me yet, but it will. Had I not already been awakened by “The Secret,” again, I may have missed this.

The Law of Attraction tells us, what we think about we will attract. The world is full of unhappy people, who, while thinking that they are looking for ways to be happy, find more unhappiness. Recognize the happiness in your life and you will find more happiness. Do not go looking for anything. You already have happiness, be grateful for it first and foremost, and the universe will reward you with joy beyond compare. You can be in“now here”or “nowhere.”

SNEAKY LITTLE DEVIL!

The Law of Attraction is a sneaky little devil. I was trolling blog sites today looking for the missing link to the monetary part of my quest and I ran across a couple of sites run by parents, families and friends of Autisim and Aspergers. Naturally I felt compelled to offer service and made a point of putting it on my ODD website.
Funny thing is, it is exactly what I was looking for, who knew?

That is exactly how it works. What you are putting out to the Universe comes to you. I thought I was looking for the solution to a problem I was having and by finding those sites, I realized...I do not have a problem. I have everything I need in my joyous and grateful life. Nothing gives me more pleasure than to help others and the Universe knows that about me.

These people need our help so lets give it to them.

IT'S ALL IN THE VISION

When I first began to apply The Law of Attraction to my life, I made my first vision board. I took all the magazines I had around the house and started clipping pictures out and taping them to a poster board. It hung in my living room and everyone that came through wanted to know what that mess was on my wall. I didn’t care how it looked and I actually didn’t take a lot of time making it. I just found all kinds of things I thought I would like in my life and pasted them on there.

The beauty of the vision board is that it continues to change, but remember to always keep the first one you make. That’s the one that will bring your real dreams to you. The ones that you made and only half believed. Those are the ones that you will see come true because you are not focused on them, you are focused on the next ones already. As soon as you put that on the board and begin to attract it, begin adding more and more. This becomes an endless process, always changing, because you are an endless process, always changing, and it is your message to the Universe that is coming back to you.
The first ones are the ones you will be most surprised and excited about and when you find you are not, then change them, make them bigger and begin to focus bigger.

Several of the cast of “The Secret” the movie have their own Vision boards now, and they are all in different formats. I still like my first one and since I moved, it is in a room I am not using, it just sits on the bed in there and occasionally my cat Pogo sits on it. I let him, because for some reason it is really indestructible. I still want a lot of those things but they are not as important to me as the ones I put on there for others and I realize that some of them have come true and the joy I feel from that is just so overwhelming, one of those dreams was for Pogo and I’ll be making that come true for him very soon.

I send a newsletter to my family everyday that has a joke for the day and some words of inspiration. While collecting material for it, I ran across this joke:


The End Is Near!

A local priest and a pastor were fishing on the side of the road. They thoughtfully made a sign saying, "The End is Near! Turn yourself around now before it's too late!" and showed it to each passing car. One driver who drove by didn't appreciate the sign and shouted at them, "Leave us alone, you religious nuts!"

All of a sudden they heard a big splash, looked at each other, and the priest said to the pastor, "You think maybe we should have just said 'Bridge Out' instead?"


I have been thinking all day about the way things are expressed to us and by us. It reminded me that there are so many interpretations of the bible, philosophies on life , opinions, judgments. They are all just words. I came to the conclusion at the end of my day after checking out different sources, that all there is or should be, is the present. What we think, feel and do right now is what matters. Only the NOW matters. Everything else is old, used, and not working, usually, so rather than change how we think, feel or see things, we should just BE, I think Dr. Phil puts it best when he says, “How’s that workin for ya?” When things aren’t working, change your mind…TRY LIVING IN THE NOW!

ARE YOU SUCCESSFUL?

Is it a false sense of security to believe, although you cannot see it, that you have enough faith in your ability to overcome any obstacles, and that you are financially successful? If you do not believe, does that make you a failure?

It is only by putting yourself out there that you can, even remotely, begin to believe in yourself. Anyone can sit in front of a computer and appear to be successful, but to actually feel it, is to walk into a store and change how you think about money. I did that two days ago and again today, and for the first time, I did not overdraw my checking account. Does that make me successful? No, what makes me successful, is the fact that I am no longer afraid of money, whether I have it or not. I am successful when I have found what is important in life and money really has nothing to with it…or everything to do with it.

Success is a mind set that naturally, begins first with a thought like everything else. When you think you are successful, and believe you are successful….YOU ARE. You cannot be successful until you have thought it.

IT'S NO "SECRET", IT IS THE ANSWER!

I find that as each day goes by, more and more people are finding it difficult to cope in their everyday life. There are many views on how to handle daily life issues, but for me the solution to change is in the mind set that one wakes up in everyday.

Having suffered most of my life with clinical depression, manifesting to Agoraphobia, I feel qualified by my experiences with mental health issues to suggest the solution that worked for me.

I was always looking for a reason for the way my life was turning out, and the only thing I ever found, were the excuses for my behavior. The worst thing about that is that mental health workers and everyone around me were letting me get away with that. I believe now, once you recognize that you suffer from any one of thousands of mental health issues, you cannot just go back to ignoring it. You must stay focused and on track with recovery, at all times.

I found my way back from this last brush with depression by way of "The Secret". There is a soothingly, relaxing recovery, sitting embedded in the movie. I know that most people that read the book did not get the same results that I did from the movie, but what I got (along with help from my mental health worker) was a life altering experience.

I do not wake up everyday now, with the same old mind set. I wake up, Thank God for every bit of my life and begin to move through my day. At the end of the day, I again Thank God for my recovery and everything I have in my life. The material things to me are not so significant in my life, but I still Thank God for them. I mainly Thank him for the new way I process what takes place in my life. I m on a journey that is filled with mind awakening adventures and waking up everyday now is not a dreaded experience.

I have a blog about mental illnesses and because of The Law of Attraction I am gathering more resources daily to help others find the necessary tools to change their minds to change their life, but the very first I suggest that anyone do is:

I REMEMBER I TESTED GOD!

A few days ago I was talking with a friend and this thought went through my mind.

“I remember that I tested God.”

I was around 13 or 14 years old and I was in junior high school. Everyday after school I would stop at the five and dime (I know, I’m aging myself here) Woolworth’s. It was in the center of town located near the school. I would window shop there.

Having been raised in a Christian home, we were taught to believe that God was a vengeful God, and if we sinned, we would be punished for it. Well, one day I decided to test that theory. I went into the store everyday and this one day I did not window shop, I stole. I wanted to have things that others had, not because I was jealous, but because I had low self esteem, I did not feel worthy of anything, and I believe that a part of me, had no self preservation. Corporal punishment was the mode of discipline in our home, and I challenged that all the time. Just because we were disciplined that way, did not keep us from breaking the rules. The rules in our home were far more rigid than any of my friends. However, the day that I first stole from the five and dime, was a record day for me. I remember walking home and thinking to myself, how will God punish me? What does smite mean anyway? Will I know when it happens? Will I go to Hell today? At the end of the day I got into bed and said my prayers, “Please God, forgive me for stealing and God bless, yadda, yadda, yadda.” In the morning I woke up relieved to realize I was still alive and went about getting ready for school. I don’t know how long it was before I stopped waiting for the punishment that never came, but I remember that when it did not come after awhile, I did it again. I went back to the store and stole something a little more expensive. Nothing I stole was important, significant, or expensive, it was just a test. Eventually I stopped stealing and I also stopped waiting for God to smite me down.

I know that it was around that time that I began to think differently about what I was being taught in church. I am in no way saying that what was being taught was right or wrong, I just did not believe the things I was being taught. It was not presented in a way that I understood. I thought differently about it, and I actually developed a kind of peacefulness with that, and still continued to disobey my parents, despite the virtual threat of physical punishment, but I did stop testing God. I had a better understanding about what my relationship with God was. I had a very close and private relationship with him that I still to this day, claim as my own.

I have spent the last year looking within for the true me, and have been fortunate enough to have the awareness I have always maintained, and as a result, I have refined my relationship with God, and it is clearer and stronger than ever. I know it began with “The Secret” and is being expanded by The Law of Attraction, and recently, by the writing of Eckhart Tolle and the Oprah Book Club, which for me, is an extension of the teachings of The Laws of The Universe.

Make a choice to watch it, read it or live it…but at least try it, and remember this: THE SECRET
